Welcome to the KEM Media Index.
The goal of this page is to be a comprehensive list of Karen's appearances
in magazines, movies, videos, calendars and anything else graced by Karen's
visage. Input is not only welcome, but desperately needed.

I will do my best to confirm all submissions before posting them here.

Jim Dean of the Playboy Mailing List
has given us several appearances by Karen in various issues of Playboy's
Newsstand Specials. Entries listed below without descriptions are
unconfirmed. I have verified that two of Jim's submissions are of
cousin Elaine Morton (Miss June 1970). And they have been removed.
The remainder are as described. Research is my life! -tlj
(Also, thanks to Raymond Miskura for doing the actual data entry for Jim's
submissions.)
All in the Family; Playboy Magazine;
July 1978; tlj, Raymond Miskura
This is why we're all here isn't it?
Beginning on page 112 Karen appears as Playmate of the Month, Miss July
1978. My favorite picture is still the head
shot which opens the pictorial. Nudity isn't everything you know.
Dear Playboy; Playboy Magazine;
October 1978; Raymond Miskura
As summer follows spring so the playmate
of the month appears in Dear Playboy three months after her centerfold
appearance. I submitted my two cents worth for Karen. It was
the first time I ever wrote to Playboy. However, my letter was not
chosen to accompany the picture which appears on page 26.

November 1978; Raymond Miskura

of what can be considered normal appearances for Playmates during the course
of their year.

April.
This entry goes hand in hand with the previous one. I found a copy
at GlamourCon. Debra Jo Fondren appears on the envelope. I
never really appreciated what cute knees Karen has until I cropped this
picture for uploading. So why did I crop it? Karen feels the
picture as published shows too much and the lady is the final authority.
Still a great pic.
Playboy's Playmate Review; Playboy
Magazine; January 1979; Raymond Miskura
Page 246. The annual Playmate
Review. Since this is the 25th anniversary issue, someone out there
should be able to give us more details about Karen's appearance in this
pictorial. (I don't even want to think about what happened to my
copy.)

Along with sister playmates:
Lisa Sohm, Michele Drake, Jeana Tomasina, Lisa Welch, Janis Schmitt and
Heidi Sorenson, Karen appears as a Vestal Virgin in this epic Mel Brooks
comedy. I don't know if this picture is available on DVD, but I would
recommend that format for playmate hunting. My poor VHS copy is worn
to a frazzle and I STILL can't tell who's who.
Jenny/867-5309; Music Video; circa
1982; Chris Krolak (confirmed by KEM)
Karen appears as the title character
in this Tommy Tutone video of the early eighties. I'm looking for
a copy of this video to upload to the KEMTP...or at least include in my
own collection.

page ??.
In the March/April 2000 issue Playboy's Book of Lingerie terminated their
Playmate Lingerie Flashback feature. Just when the playmates of 1978
were scheduled to appear! One person I know was very upset about
this (More later). It was replaced by the Book of Lingerie flashback
feature which in the May/June 2000 issue featured the March/April 1987
issue. (Are you following this?) Anyway, to make a long story
less long, Karen appeared in this issue. She remembers the shoot
very well. She remembers the wine was Soave Bola (sp?). When she
told me about it she laughed. Oh what we once thought was hip!
(Note: Of course, their picture doesn't have the autograph.)

her centerfold appearance one of Playboy's thousands of file pictures appeared

When I said I was looking for new pictures myself, I wasn't kidding, and
this offering from Jim Dean is just the thing. From the same shoot
as our valentine offering, this full page image is exquisite Karen and
I recommend all serious fans get a copy. This picture is not in Karen's
portfolio at the Playboy Cyber Club. Stay tuned and thanks Jim!
The Playmate Book; 1996; tlj
In the natural course of the book,
Karen's centerfold shot appears on page 220 (with an inset photo of cousin
Elaine Morton). Also on this page is a Mansion West party shot of
a smiling Karen with Clint Eastwood. On page 239, in the Playmate
Reunion pictures she appears with September 1978 playmate Rosanne Katon;
again: smiling (see below).
Playboy's Pocket Playmates; March
1996; Jim Dean
Page 72. This is Volume 1, Number
3, 1982-1977 of the six issue Pocket Playmates series. I should have
remembered this one since I have the set myself. Another picture
from my favorite shoot. A full page. As always, Karen looks
like an angel.

which was an index of models' appearances to that date. This is how
I found the January/February 1990 appearance. It is the same picture.

Page 15. At thirty-two inches,
Karen shares the distinction of the smallest busted playmate with seven
others. Only Maria Checa and Anne-Marie Fox are listed in this NSS.
The quarter page image appearing in this issue appears to come from the
same shoot as my favorite head shot.
Celebrating Centerfolds: Aug,
Sep, Oct; September 1999; Raymond Miskura, tlj
page 74.
Karen celebrates her birthday on October 3rd, so when Playboy started doing
these I was looking for this one. Karen appears in a quarter page
shot. An important detail of this picture is that of all Karen's
published modeling shots, this is the only one I have seen where she ALMOST
smiles. When I asked her about this lack of teeth at GlamourCon she
claims she smiled in hundreds of pictures for Playboy. The photo
vault still holds treasures. (We are in search of the first Karen
Elaine Morton "smiley face" picture.)
Playboy's Book of Lingerie; May/June
2000; tlj
page 51, 95. Karen's appearance
in the March/April 1987 is noted in the new Book of Lingerie Flashback
feature. The image on page 51 is the
same as described above. As mentioned above, one person I know was
very upset about the termination of the Playmate Lingerie Flashback just
when the PMs of 1978 were due to appear. This person was sufficiently
ticked off to write Jeff Cohen a nasty email which, amazingly, was published
on page 95 of this issue of the BOL.
Thus giving us two very different images of Karen in the new millennium.
If you're interested in the actual email that got Jeff Cohen to put Karen
in the letters section of this BOL, click here.
Now if I can only convince Jeff to print the "smiley face" pictures.
Playboy's Book of Lingerie; September/October
2000; tlj
page 92.
The folks at BOL claim that the vitriolic tirade from the May/June issue
was one of their favorite letters in the first 75 issues. I think
they just wanted an excuse to publish more pictures of Karen.
